Purpose and Scope of the Job |
Responsible for receiving, cleaning, assembling, Inspection wrapping and sterilization of medical devices in accordance with the CSSD policies and procedure. |
Main Duties and Responsibilities/Performance Standards |
1 | Perform the daily testing of sterilizers; warm up cycle, Bowie Dick test, and biological spores test and files the result for documentation purposes. |
2 | Receive and record all items from allocated areas and deliver them to the decontamination area. Sort contaminated instruments/devices and thoroughly clean them following manufacturer’s instructions and established guidelines and procedures. |
3 | Check, clean, and operate autoclaves, washer disinfectors, ultrasonic machines, and other machines in CSSD. |
4 | Decontaminate surgical instruments and other supplies using the washer disinfector and disinfecting solutions. |
5 | Inspect all instruments and test the working condition to ensure integrity before packing. |
6 | Prepare checklist of contents and place the list inside the tray or pack with the indicator. |
7 | Assemble and pack instrument/devices sets using recommended packaging material and packaging techniques. |
8 | Check integrity of the packs, wrapper and seals after sterilization. |
9 | Follow infection control policies and procedures in every area to prevent cross infection. |
10 | Adhere to the appropriate dress code designated for each area, and follow infection control guidelines including but not limited to hand hygiene, proper PPE, etc. |
11 | Undertakes in-house training as required to ensure competency. |
12 | Understand and adhere to all safety policies and procedures related to the scope of practice; such as fire drill and MSDS. |
13 | Report any missing or damaged items via electronic incident reporting. |
14 | To deliver people-centered care that is culturally sensitive, respect spiritual values and beliefs. |
15 | To provide emotional support to relieve fear and anxiety. |
16 | Facilitate continuity, secure transition and coordination of care between healthcare settings. |
17 | Perform any other tasks or duties appropriate to his/her realm of knowledge, skills and experience as assigned by the CSSD In charge. |
Qualifications, Competences and Skills |
Education |
1 | Completion of secondary education plus one year Diploma in sterile services or Training Certificate. |
2 | Successful completion of a recognized Sterile Supply Processing Course. |
| Knowledge, skill and Ability Knowledge |
| Knowledge of processes, procedure, quality assurance, chemicals and medical instruments sufficient to be able to decontaminate and sterilize equipment, supplies and instruments |
| Must have good telephone manners and problem -solving skills. |

Experience |
| Two years’ experience in sterilization principles. |

Computer Proficiency |
| Knowledge in Microsoft / Computer. |

1 | Ability to tolerate prolonged standing. Ability to lift 30 KG and move cart in excess of 60 KG. |
