Oursuccessful candidate will provide strong strategic senior-levelFacilities Operations leadership while working with the clients onall matters relating to contract and account operations toestablish and maintain a solid and mutually beneficial businessrelationship. Day-to-day Facilities account responsibilities willinclude providing overall planning, strategic innovation andimplementation, achieving operations and financial goals,establishing and maintaining effective customer/client rapport, andproviding direction and guidance to the Facilities team of managersand employees. IFM operations include Maintenance, HVAC, Plumbing,Electrical, repair, Project Management, Environmental Services,Grounds andLandscaping.
AsDirector of FacilitiesOperations at Claflin, youwill:
Developand maintain an integrated, strategically aligned facilitiesorganization demonstrating and supporting a commitment to clientservices
Providesenior-level direction for all major facilitiesprojects
Directthe daily operations of all areas of the Facilities ManagementDepartment and ensure that all work supports and is consistent withinstitutionalstandards
Leadinitiatives to standardize campus buildings operations,maintenance, renovation, and construction. Manage implementation ofthe Universitys MasterPlan
Manageoperating expenses, construction projects, major renewal andreplacement projects, and secure funding asappropriate
Providestrategic leadership by aligning Facilities Management sperformance and its mission statement with the College s culture,expectations, and long-rangeplans
Obtainbids for projects and continually evaluate vendor pricing andservices to ensure the quality of work and savings for thecollege.
Requirements
Isthis opportunity right for you? We are looking for candidates whohave:
5+years of previous director experience in facilities management in alarge, complex HBCU universityrequired
BSin Engineering or another related fieldpreferred
Knowledgeof a wide range of trades and disciplines, including energymanagement
Provensuccess in providing innovative, out-of-the-box strategies forcomplexissues
Excellentleadership skills, and willingness to train and mentorstaff
Havehigher education experience at a Historically Black College andUniversityrequired
Haveconstruction experience in a university settingrequired
TheDirector of Facilities Operations is responsible for directingfacilities maintenance operations of building(s) and property at asingle unit. The Director of Facilities Operations manages thepreventative maintenance and reactive repair of skilled trades,e.g., HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and utilities; and manages thehiring, training, and supervision of staff, professionals, andmanagement. The Director of Facilities Operations manages a safeand efficient working environment, essential to the performance ofthe business. The Director may oversee construction work and oftenmanages other core company services, and/or logistics ofbusiness/operations services, e.g., grounds-keeping, laundry, food,security, inventory, mail, and conciergeservices.
